If you are a car fan you know fun of the market is inspecting new models as they enter the showroom. There is just something special about a new automobile : the smell, the look, the price tag! For some 17,000,000 American drivers a new car is in their future, while many others select the used automobile market. Some of the automobiles on the market today are hot, hot, hot! Let’s take a look at several new and future offerings from Dodge.

To be introduced in Spring 2006 as a 2007 model, the Caliber will have 3 engine choices: 1.8, 2.0, and 2.4 I4s, a continuously available transaxle, and all wheel drive. In addition, 2.0L diesel engines should be available outside of the North American market – why not here? – as DaimlerChrysler sets to introduce the Dodge name into new markets.
Other Dodge vehicles that are getting spotted include the Ram and Dakota pick up wagons, the Durango SUV and the soon to be introduced Dodge Nitro, the division’s version of the compact Jeep Freedom . Oh, yup, who could forget the 510-hp V10 Viper? Are you say, Corvette beater?
One word you can not associate with Dodge anymore is the word, “boring.” Exciting cars, trucks, and SUVs for a market craving these kinds of hot vehicles. I assume the “ram” insignia truly does befit the name.

The Amazing Dodge Viper GTS Road Car
The Dodge division of the Chrysler LLC, a U.S. Automobile manufacturer, started the production of the Dodge Viper in 1992. Inspired from the AC Cobra, the then status symbol car, the Dodge Viper was launched with a high-performance and better styling engine; and a more muscular and aggressive-styling body.
First Generation
The Viper RT/10 is the first model of its kind was released in 1991. The two-door roadster had a powerful engine that weighed 711 lbs and produced 400bhp. Based on the design of Chrysler LA engine, modified and refurbished by the Lamborghini, also a production of the Chrysler Corporation, 8.0L, 400bhp and 465 lb-ft enhanced engine was fitted into this compact car with a sporty-look. Attaining a maximum speed of more than 180 mph, the performance of this elite car could very well complete a quarter mile in just 12.6 seconds. The Spartan car of its own kind, the first-generation Dodge Viper produced an acceleration of 0 – 60 mph in only 4.6 seconds and reached 100 mph in 9.2 seconds. This was something unachievable by any other car during those times.
Second Generation
Dodge Viper GTS, a coupe model of the initial release was later released in 1996. Much upgraded features were included in this model, few of which are the better enhanced engine, redesigned suspension and stiffer chassis. This car came up with a higher power and lesser weight of the body. The top speed was increased by 11mph. This car was then rated as the top car even when compared with the likes of the Ferrari 550, Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 911 and also Honda NSX. Almost 10,000 Vipers of the second generation model were sold in less than six years.
Third Generation
The second-generation car underwent a major redesign bringing up the Viper SRT-10 in 2003. The style was completely changed, the body has an altogether new look and the initial release came as a convertible. Viper SRT-10 Coupe was later launched based on the response of the convertible. Upgraded and powerful 8.3L V10 engine was included in this coupe. The engines that released along with this car are of 510-hp and 535 lb-ft that offered high performance.
Fourth Generation
600 bhp at 6000 rpm engine was launched with the fourth generation of the Viper SRT-10, which was released in 2008. This is the currently available car in the market today. Major internal redesigns were made in this fourth-generation car though the outer looks had slight changes in the body angling and styling. Continental AG developed the electronic engine controller which could monitor the crankshaft and the cylinder position that processes more power than its previous version engine. This cylinder position is monitored by the new engine up to 6 times on each firing.This newly designed enhanced engine produced an acceleration of 0 – 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds and reached 100 mph in 7.6 seconds, attaining a top speed of 202 mph. Chrysler could redefine the Dodge Viper with the release of this Viper SRT-10 in the fourth-generation of its model. It was thoroughly appreciated and well-received in the global auto market.

2010 Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid: a First for Mercedes-Benz
Clearly, the S400 Hybrid has a limited clientele—folks who welcome that 3-4 mpg improvement over an S550. Environmental-friendliness doesn’t have to be limited to the lower end of the price scale.
The new S400 Hybrid isn’t the first full-size luxury sedan to assume gasoline/electric operation. Lexus launched its LS 600h L sedan, with a comparable hybrid powertrain, as a 2008 model. Both companies evidently believe there’s a significant urge for greater fuel economy and reduced emissions, even at the upper end of the economic scale.
One big difference lies in the battery. With the S400, Mercedes-Benz is the first automaker to issue a series-production model with a lithium-ion battery pack that fits into the engine compartment. Except for seldom-seen Fisker and Tesla cars, other hybrids use nickel metal hydride batteries.
Under the S400 hood, a 3.5-liter V-6 gasoline engine generates 275 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A 15-kilowatt electric motor is located between the gas engine and the seven-speed adaptive automatic transmission, which incorporates Sport and Comfort modes. The electric motor adds 20 horsepower, for a total of 295; plus 118 pound-feet of starting torque, to boost acceleration when taking off.
Unlike some hybrid-powertrain vehicles on the market, this one does not provide a full hybrid system. The engine shuts off automatically as you slow down and come to a halt at a stoplight or stop sign, but the S400 Hybrid cannot run on battery power alone. Electricity augments the gasoline engine, but cannot substitute its function. In some hybrid models, the gasoline engine shuts off and restarts with a bit of a bump. Not here. It’s nearly impossible to discern the transition between engine shut-off and subsequent start-up at a stoplight.
The rear-wheel-drive S400 Hybrid gets a fuel-economy estimate from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of 19 mpg in city driving and 26 mpg on the highway—comparable to a smaller gas-engine car. In contrast, the Mercedes-Benz S550 sedan with a 382-horsepower V-8 gets a mileage estimate of only 15 mpg city/23 mpg highway. Of course, the S600 with its 510-hp V-12 engine is even less thrifty. Built on a 124.6-inch wheelbase and measuring 206.5 inches long overall, the S400 Hybrid is a substantial automobile, weighing at least 4,390 pounds. That’s a lot for any powertrain to push.
Everything is super-smooth in the S400 Hybrid, just as it is in every S-Class sedan. After all, this is Mercedes-Benz’s prime model: the very top of the sedan lineup in terms of luxury and comfort/convenience. So, you get nearly every S-Class benefit and element of elegance, coupled with the promise of consuming less fuel and yielding fewer emissions.
With a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 7.2 seconds, performance admittedly falls short of the capabilities of the S550 sedan. Even so, the S400 Hybrid comes close enough to satisfy most potential buyers in this league. Only the most ardent high-end hot rodder is likely to grumble about any shortage of screaming acceleration. And those folks aren’t likely to lean toward a hybrid of any class, much less the upper-luxury S-Class. Even an S550 or S600 doesn’t satisfy everyone, which is why Mercedes-Benz’s AMG division turns out super-performance S63 and S65 editions.
Every S-Class model, including the S400, is loaded with technology and driver conveniences. The standard Pre-Safe system can sense an impending collision and tighten seatbelts, as well as apply additional braking force. Mercedes-Benz also offers a Driver Assistance Package that includes a Blind-Spot Alert, Lane-Departure Warning, and Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control. New Attention Assist is a driver-fatigue alert system that provides both an audible and visual warning when it senses lack of alertness.
Back-seat video entertainment with dual screens is available. A Rear Seating Package includes four-zone automatic climate control, a rear-seat memory, and heated/active-ventilated rear seats. A Sport Package includes several appearance items, and may be augmented by a panoramic moonroof. Night View Assist Plus is another extra-cost option, but 20-inch tires are a no-charge alternative to the standard 18-inch rubber. Although the S400 Hybrid is the lowest-priced S-Class model, it’s hardly a giveaway at ,825 (including destination charge). Still, the gasoline-engine S550 sedan stickers for ,475.

Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang Super Snake
The package has been revealed for the 2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake. Ford Shelby is making upgrades available to existing owners of unmodified vehicles.
For the base configuration, the GT500 Super Snake will push out 630 horsepower. With the optimal setup, it will pump out 725 hp.
There are more changes including an upgraded intercooler, a new cold air intake system and radiator.
The 630 horsepower model incorporates a Borla cat-back exhaust system. The 725 horsepower version uses a JBA exhaust unit.
Some more upgrades were also added for driver handling. They include Ford racing suspension components containing adjustable dampers, sturdier springs and larger anti-roll bars. Throw in with that an upgraded front strut tower brace, 20-inch wheels with Pirelli P-Zero tires and Baer six-piston front calipers containing cross-drilled rotors fitted for all four corners.
The hood has larger vents, nice striping decals, rear quarter-window scoops, and new carbon-fiber splitter and side sills. The cabin features stylish headrests with Shelby logos and carbon-fiber gauge faces. Is this even street legal?
